2025 Porsche Panamera 4/4S/Turbo E-Hybrid First Drive Review
Hot on the heels of the launch of the third-generation Porsche Panamera, a trio of new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models are joining the lineup for the 2025 model year. Nearly every recent Porsche I’ve driven has been executed at such a high level that didn’t leave much room for improvement; but ever the innovator striving for excellence, Porsche has enhanced its PHEV executive sedan in meaningful ways.

2024 Toyota RAV4 Prime Review: Don't Forget the PHEV
Переглядів 8 тис.14 днів тому
It seems like electrification has become something of a taboo topic these days, with plenty of shouting into the void about the government forcing unwanted change on the masses. But while electric vehicles (EVs) attract a disproportionate amount of attention, what’s lost in all the misguided rhetoric is the humble plug-in hybrid (PHEV). That’s because entries like the 2024 Toyota RAV4 Prime wil...

2024 Kia EV9 Review: This is the EV We Need Right Now
Переглядів 3 тис.28 днів тому
If Ford’s all-electric F-150 Lighting is the most important vehicle of our generation, the 2024 Kia EV9 is the most impressive - at least to this point. OK, there’s a massive caveat that comes with this bold assertion - namely that there are more than a few six-figure supercars and luxury sedans that boast bigger wow factors. Let’s clear up that claim, then. First and foremost, this electric ve...

2024 Subaru Impreza Review: Improved in All the Ways that Matter
Having a Kia EV for the past 5 years, I find that the regen level I set depends on the driving conditions. On the highway with no traffic, regen is off. Stop and go, max regen. Zero regen with auto regen enabled for the majority of the time though.
My house was built in 2003 and came with pre-wiring for EV charging. I’ll probably never use it but even today it’s good equity when I sell the house.
You are a pleasure to listen to. Informative, organized, pleasant… wonderful! Thanks.
gas cars get better gas mileage in the cold. why do you think racing cars have an inline gas cooler inside the engine? it's to cool down the gas going into the fuel injectors which gives a little more horsepower. I think what people think gas is bad in winter is because the 12v battery might not start the car. back to the battery being the problem. I'm not an EV hater. I have a new EV which I love. But state the facts. not theories.
Regulating the temperature of fuel isn’t the same as cold-weather efficiency, though. Internal combustion engines are less efficient in cold temperatures.
EVs cost too much for what they are. If I pay extra for an EV, just because it's an EV, then the annual maintenance cost needs to less then an annual oil change, if that. I work in the tech sector, and for me to buy into "the future of the automobile", it cannot only be about protecting the environment, but also about getting more for less. That's what we all must expect from technology, otherwise it's not an advancement.
Hmm let's see why is the interest dropping.... EVs are pricy, disastrous charging infrastructure, high insurance costs, their range varies drastically depending on the weather, lack of trained mechanics along with high repair costs and god forbid if your battery is touched even in a fender bender, it could result in a total write off of the car, the batteries cost an arm and two kidneys to replace, poor reliability (being a computer on wheels doesn't help), very high depreciation (much higher than an ICE car). There is also one big thing EVs are lacking that the "normal" cars have, it is called convenience. Being able to pump and go in 5 mins wherever you want to. Imagine a line at a charger where a car would take 30 mins to charge (average) . Lets say you have 3 cars in front of you 3x30 + your own charging time. Relying exclusively on "Home charging" is ridiculous. What if I have a power outage? Until we get some of the main concerns addressed I highly doubt the interest will peak again no matter what the guv says. Wondering if anyone has done a brief assessment for the energy consumption at peak hours, assuming the EV adoption goes let's say at 30%. Can the grid sustain ...dunno...3000 EVs plugged in at the same time in a given area (L2. L3) , combined with all the usual consumption for that period. Will the grid be able to take it or will start to have blackouts due to overcharging. Too many grey/dark areas that make the EVs not a viable solution. For now anyways
Range and charging infrastructure (or lack thereof) go hand in hand. The lower the range the more demand for charging infrastructure. In Canada, we don't have enough charging points cross-country, thus the request for longer range vehicles. Given the current state of charging infrastructure and given that the range of both my petrol powered vehicles, I'm expecting 1000km range especially considering how much EVs cost.
Swedes are getting massive incentives to buy EVs and the charging infrastructure has kept in step. That's the main reason they buy them regardless of weather conditions there. But I get it, you're saying weather should not be that significant a factor, but the poll results reflect that. There are other concerns that ranked higher.
Because they are a toy and we you get tired of a toy, gos back in the toy box.
Its dying because big, heavy, expensive luxury Ev's with HUGE batteries are all you can buy when what we need is a small, light efficient and affordable Ev's. Something with a battery that can practically be charged with your average home solar system taking the stress of the grid and our wallets, then we will see mass adoption because they can buy one for the same or less than a normal car and save 5 grand a year in not buying fuel. The tech is already here, we just need an Ev that hits the sweet spot with the right government incentives.
Have you seen the Aptera?
@@androidchannel309 I have but unti that is a reality we can achieve all we need to with far more modest technology....
Autotrader search still can’t tell the difference between a hybrid and a PHEV. Can’t even search for a PHEV on the stupid Autotrader App or website. You’re NOT HELPING, AT.
Where? This is not true
Doesn't really need to be said, but Alberta's only tying it's wagon to hydrogen because it'll be made from natural gas.
It's asinine that all condo/indoor parking lots don't just have 120v regular outlets for every parking spot. Forget the heavy cables and buying all the Lv2 chargers, just plug the EVSE into a 12amp outlet and get 75+kms every night. Then you could build in a bank of a couple Lv2s that are only to be used when needed or are attached to preferred condos. If an EV is sitting for 8+ hours either for work or at home Lv2 and up is overkill, unless you're driving a Hummer EV.
That's be up to the condo owners to put in place and the majority only look at their today needs to try and keep fees down instead of looking forward and how this will help resale in the future.
Did she say, "Skinny A pillars?" Those are massive A pillars.
They're skinny from the driver's seat so they don't block more visibility than they need to! -Jodi
Your observation (rude drivers might not stick in your mind if ithey're in a common car like a Corolla) bears further examination . . . . So many Teslas are struck by Hondas around the US that UA-cam's 'Teslacam Stories' (aka 'Wham Baam Teslacam') has a slogan for it: #Hondabump.
Good suggestions all. Except being out in the middle of nowhere with a disconnected car battery? Seems risky both scenarios. Drain the battery, or disconnect it while out 'enjoying' nature. Decisions, decisions 🤔
Disconnecting the battery in the middle of nowhere means you can reconnect it - and that’s how to avoid a dead battery!
Taycan if for the Dad that needs to be practical!
EV unaffordable all overpriced. Only EV from China is affordable cost half the price. Why they not available here when the government here tariffs them to the max. They want target by 2035 all EV.
Even the Chinese EV manufacturers have said North America isn’t ready for Chinese EVs. Whatever that means. Another problem is it’s doubtful Chinese EVs will pass our crash standards at this point. With a bit better NVH and quality, there’s no doubt Chinese EVs will take over the market, which of course domestic manufacturers will lobby against.
I cannot speak for Canada as I don't live or travel there, but in sunny/rainy/usually warm Atlanta you can't throw a toothpick without hitting a new on the road EV, and the wait to use the free chargers at my office is constant (I charge at home adding 10% to the battery overnight, a conscious decision to greatly extend battery life))
Easy: middle class cannot afford Ev's Gov't forcing people to purchase ev's thru the use of government regulation. Let the market decide if the public want to buy Ev's
why Ontario is not installing magnetics inductions road on all 400 highway. Require for long distances cars and tractor-trailers.
Sure buddy. Resource is infinite right?
👏👍
Wait till those turbos go. How much that gonna cost?
lol half baked

Tesla is the best. Best charging network
Pathetic... Not enough traction.
Have a Bolt and love it...
Some common issues - transmission becomes jerky. need to change out the pressure switches and get the dealer to do a software update on the transmission.
